Professional Biography

Sara Taye Mengistu, is the Research, Policy,
and Advocacy Lead for SENA and her journey
has solidified an unwavering commitment to
the cause of SRHR advocacy. Hailing from a
developing nation, Ethiopia, Sara has vast
experience in evidence based research, the
role of policy, programming and observing
the negative effects and impact of HIV/AIDS
and being the focal person in providing
Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) and support to
individuals living with HIV/AIDS,
counselling, follow-up care, and management
of opportunistic infections. Sara is a
holder of a Bachelor of Science in Public
Health (University of Gondar), Master of
Public Health (Jimma University) and Master
of Science in Sexual and Reproductive Health
Policy and Programming (London School of
Hygiene and Tropical Medicine).

Polyphile Ntihinyurwa

Maternal Health and Family Planning
Lead

Professional Biography

Polyphile Ntihinyurwa is the Maternal Health
and Family Planning Lead and has experience
in the prevention of unsafe abortion and the
role of family planning in informing SRHR.
His portfolio has also comprised the
development of evidence based safe abortion
and family planning, conducting clinical
research on safe termination of pregnancy
and post abortion care. Polyphile is an
Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. He is a
holder of a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery
and Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology, both from the University of
Rwanda and a Master of Science in Sexual and
Reproductive Health Policy and Programming
(London School of Hygiene and Tropical
Medicine).

Leone Nezi

Gender, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Lead

Professional Biography

Leone Nezi is the Gender, Equity, Diversity
and Inclusion Lead and has experience in
promoting the access to SRHR to women and
girls including women with disabilities. Her
experience in SRHR and GBV at regional level
has included gender mainstreaming, SRHR in
humanitarian settings, development of
programming that adopts a participatory
approach and documentation of stories of
sustainable impact. Leone is a Women and
Girls Advocate. She is a holder of a
Bachelor of Laws (University of
KwaZulu-Natal South-Africa), Master of Laws
in Sexual and Reproductive Rights in Africa
(University of Pretoria) and Master of
Science in Sexual and Reproductive Health
Policy and Programming (London School of
Hygiene and Tropical Medicine).

Saruh (Chido Kelly) Rusike

Adolescent, Youth Health, Social
Accountability and Partnerships Lead

Professional Biography

Saruh (Chido Kelly) Rusike is the Lead and
has experience in adolescents and young
people’s sexual and reproductive health and
rights initiatives. Her portfolio comprises
SRHR integration with evidence-based policy
and advocacy, social accountability
monitoring, partnership development,
coordination and cooperation, and mental
health with focus on adolescents and young
people. She is a current Global Health Corps
Fellow. She is a holder of a Bachelor of
Science in Health Education and Health
Promotion (University of Zimbabwe) and
Master of Science in Sexual and Reproductive
Health Policy and Programming (London School
of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine).
