About Us

SRHR [Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights] Equity Network Africa (SENA) is an African organisation of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) experts that addresses the challenges faced by African women and girls in accessing the various aspects of SRHR services. This is based on the foundational principles and objectives of regional and international health, SRHR, legal and policy frameworks that recognise and promote the exercise of SRH. SENA seeks to facilitate and coordinate the sharing of experiences, information, research, strategies that promote and recognise the exercise of SRHR by African women and girls. This is done through integration and acknowledging the voices of women and girls, strengthening, capacitating and networking of African Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Community Based Organisations (CBOs), conducting evidence based research, development of contextually relevant position papers, policies and programming interventions and multi-level advocacy initiatives. In addressing SRH, SENA focuses on other thematic areas that influence the realisation of SRHR including but not limited to female genital mutilation (FGM), gender based violence (GBV), climate justice diversity and inclusion. Thus far, SENA has been focusing on east and sub-Saharan Africa and seeks to increase the area of influence in the next 3 years.
